‘Gold bar’ Bob Menendez is a convicted bribe-taking dirt bag and lousy husband who needs to be imprisoned NOW

Ex-Sen. Bob Menendez has proved he’s a low-life to the very end.

His wife Nadine Menendez’s trial just ended — she was found guilty of all 15 federal bribery and conspiracy charges — yet “Gold Bars Bob” apparently never even showed up for it.

At least, The Post never spotted him there during the month-long trial — not even once.

And never mind that he won a delay in having to report to prison (he’s to serve 11 years behind bars) after his own conviction on corruption charges precisely by claiming he wanted to “assist” in his wife’s trial.

That’s right: Seems he simply lied to the judge to postpone his comeuppance, perhaps thinking it could buy him time to beg for a pardon.

It gets worse: During his own trial, he actually blamed Nadine for his crimes.

Surely no one will mistake this slimeball for Husband of the Year: First he throws his wife under the bus, then he pretends he wants to help with her trial, yet never shows up.

Bob and Nadine may have been “partners in crime, partners in corruption, and partners in greed,” as prosecutor Lara Pomerantz said in her opening statement, but the scoundrel couldn’t even be bothered to stand by his wife.

Nadine is expected to be sentenced June 12, just six days after Bob reports to prison.

But the disgraced ex-lawmaker — who abused the power of his office and betrayed his constituents’ trust — clearly doesn’t deserve those extra days of freedom.

The sooner he’s sent up the river, the sooner justice will be done.
