The San Francisco Giants shocked the world when they acquired star third baseman Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox on Father’s Day.
The Giants were in the market for a middle-of-the-order power bat, and they got one of the best in baseball.
At 41-31, the Giants are just two-and-a-half games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for first place in the National League West and hold the second NL wild card spot.
But if the Giants want to send the message that they are real contenders, the Devers trade isn’t the only one they should make.
Brayden Haena of ClutchPoints devised a trade proposal that would send a former All-Star centerfielder to the Giants.
The Giants would trade outfielder Mike Yastrzemski, right-hander Tristan Beck and prospect left-hander Juan Sanchez to the Chicago White Sox for Luis Robert Jr.

Robert, 27, has had a rough season so far but has started to heat up in June. Overall, the numbers aren’t pretty besides 21 stolen bases.
Robert has just six home runs and 28 RBI while slashing .194/.279/.311 in 64 games. In 10 June games, Robert is slashing .257/.333/.400 and has a five-game hitting streak.
“When healthy, he's a true five-tool player—a career .282 hitter with a cannon for an arm, elite speed, and Gold Glove-caliber defense in center,” wrote Haena. “He's blasted 38 homers in a season before and boasts an OPS north of .850 when locked in.”
A change of scenery to a team contending for the playoffs may be what Robert needs to become that player again, and Robert may be what the Giants need to play in October.
