Giants' Wan'Dale Robinson gets $15 million per year contract update from ESPN writer

The New York Giants believe they've found their franchise quarterback, Jaxson Dart.

Now they've got to build up the castle around him.

One piece of that build is Wan'Dale Robinson, and he's going to create a tricky decision very soon. The uber-talented slot receiver is a free agent after the season.

In concept, the Giants should keep him around. He's a reliable target for Dart, and once Malik Nabers is back, a great No. 2 overall passing game weapon.

But after Khalil Shakir signed a strong contract last offseason with the Buffalo Bills, the price of slot receivers is rising.

"He's the Giants' top receiver this season and was a second-round pick in 2022," ESPN's Jordan Raanan wrote on Tuesday. "Robinson has proven this season that he can play inside and outside, though he leads all receivers with 505 yards out of the slot. But he could be costly after Buffalo's Khalil Shakir signed a deal worth up to $15 million per year this past offseason. But the Giants can't afford to lose any playmaker as they try to build around quarterback Jaxson Dart."

Robinson's increased versatility, proving his outside prowess too, should help him secure a more sturdy contract. It's just not clear if it'll be from the Giants.

New York will have to figure out how all its different needs add up. The good thing is that offensive skill positions are mostly in good shape, especially if Robinson gets re-signed. But there's a lot of work beyond that.

Does Robinson's contract fit into the overall plans? Dart surely hopes that it does, but the Giants' fanbase will have to wait until the offseason to see which side this one ends up on.
