Giants seven-round 2026 NFL Mock Draft 2.0: An early trade shakes things up

We have a trade!

Usually, we try to refrain from wheeling and dealing in these mock drafts, for the sake of coming as close as possible to what the Giants actually will do in the NFL draft. Sure, sometimes they move all over the board, but more often they do not.

This year, though, it could make a great deal of sense for the Giants to move down a few spots in the first round. As it stands now, they have seven picks but not one in each round. They do not own a third-round pick, which means after they select at No. 37 in the second round they have to wait until the 105th overall pick, early in the fourth round, to go again, and that will be a brutally long wait. They also have three picks in the sixth round and none in the seventh, but that is not a big deal.

There is no doubt new head coach John Harbaugh wants to see the Giants add a pick on the second day (rounds 2 and 3) of the draft. General manager Joe Schoen is thrilled that last year he was able to trade back up into the first round to get up to No. 25 to get quarterback Jaxson Dart. That Schoen had to surrender a 2026 third-round pick was a small price to pay, considering how encouraging Dart’s rookie year turned out to be.
