Giants rumor from ESPN reveals two new candidates for offensive coordinator

The New York Giants are still searching for an offensive coordinator after losing out on Todd Monken and the team has added two more to the list of candidates.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Giants are interested in former Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan and former Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.

Fowler adds that the Giants either plan to interview or have interviewed the two coaches.

"Source: Former Titans head coach Brian Callahan and former Washington offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury are involved in Giants' initial OC search. New York plans to or has talked to them," Fowler reported.

The Athletic's Dan Duggan adds that head coach John Harbaugh prefers to have an offensive coordinator with previous play-calling experience in the league, so it makes sense to interview Kingsbury and Callahan.

"Harbaugh’s track record has leaned heavily on OC’s with NFL play-calling experience," Duggan wrote. "The list had of candidates had been light in that department, but here’s two experienced play-callers."

Callahan was most recently the head coach of the Titans but was fired after a dreadful season-plus on the job. He called plays in his first season in 2024 but relinquished the duty early in the 2025 campaign after getting awful results.

Before his time with the Titans, Callahan was the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals for five seasons, but he did not call plays there. Instead, the former Bengals offensive coordinator helped game plan for the offense.

Kingsbury is easily the more attractive candidate between the two thanks to his superior experience as an NFL play-caller.

A former head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, Kingsbury's offense was one of the better units in the NFL in 2021 and he helped develop Jayden Daniels into a star in his first season as the Washington Commanders' offensive coordinator in 2024.

The latter fact will be of particular interest for a Giants team with a young quarterback in Jaxson Dart.

Along with Kingsbury and Callahan, the Giants have shown interest in four others, including Denver Broncos passing-game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Davis Webb, Los Angeles Chargers quarterbacks coach Shane Day, and Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter and passing-game coordinator Alex Tanney.
