Giants, Raiders and Commanders could have interest in released $63 million star

The New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders and Washington Commanders all need help at wide receiver and there's a new one to target on the open market.

The New England Patriots reportedly informed wide receiver Stefon Diggs that they plan to release him after just one season with the team.

Diggs getting cut wasn't a result of a lack of production, as he tallied over 1,000 yards last season while serving as Drake Maye's top target.

Instead, his release was a result of Diggs' cap number exploding to a whopping $26.5 million this season, which was clearly not something New England was looking to keep on the books.

The two sides did try to negotiate a reworked deal, but that never came to fruition and now Diggs will be looking for a new home in 2026.

Giants, Raiders, Commanders could have interest

The Giants don't have much behind Malik Nabers. Darius Slayton is a No. 3, at best, and Wan'Dale Robinson is a pending free agent and may not be back.

Adding a player like Diggs who helped a young quarterback like Maye should be under consideration for New York with Jaxson Dart's development being paramount.

In Washington, Deebo Samuel is a pending free agent and isn't guaranteed to return. If not, the Commanders will have a terrible situation for Jayden Daniels, with Terry McLaurin and not much else.

Sure, general manager Adam Peters expressed the desire to get younger and faster this offseason, but beggars can't be choosers and Diggs should be on Washington's radar.

The Raiders have the most dire need at wide receiver among these three teams.

Las Vegas does not have a clear-cut No. 1 target in the wide receivers room, and the top three in that room are two inexperienced and unproven 2025 draft picks, Jack Bech and Dont'e Thornton, and a No. 3 receiver in veteran Tre Tucker.
