Giants predicted to make exciting Odell Beckham Jr. roster decision by ESPN

The New York Giants feel like a team on the cusp of a major breakout. They hired John Harbaugh over the offseason, added quality talent on both sides of the ball, and are getting Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, and Cam Skattebo back.

But if there is one thing that could hold this team back, it would be the wide receiver room behind Nabers. It's not a good WR depth chart, but there is a very fun name lingering on the edge of their 53-man roster: Odell Beckham Jr.

It would not be a surprise if he were cut before the season. However, ESPN's Jordan Raanan is predicting that instead of moving on from Beckham, the Giants will actually name him one of their WRs on the 53-man roster in what would be an exciting decision.

Giants predicted to keep Odell Beckham Jr. on 53-man roster

"Beckham barely snuck onto the roster, and it wouldn't be surprising if he somehow lands on the practice squad as they finagle their roster," Raanan writes. "Berriors is safer because his the team's returner."

The Giants are predicted by Raanan to keep Beckham on the 53-man roster alongside six other wide receivers. Nabers is an obvious one, so too is rookie WR Malachi Fields.

But the others making the roster in Raanan's prediction are Calvin Austin III, Darius Slayton, Darnell Mooney, and Braxton Berrios.

Of the seven WRs to make the roster in Raanan's prediction, Beckham is the most likely one to be cut. It's a feel-good story to have him on the roster, but he's likely not as good as the other veterans on the team.

But if the Giants can conserve a roster spot elsewhere, then keeping him on the 53-man roster, especially with Nabers' uncertainty and injury history, would make sense.

So far during the preseason, Beckham has caught four passes for 23 yards but no touchdowns. He's not done anything truly impressive like he was in his prime. That doesn't mean he shouldn't make the roster.

Raanan's prediction would be very exciting for Giants fans, and while they should be looking to compete to make the playoffs this year, having Beckham on the 53-man roster, even if it's only as a depth piece, would make for a fun storyline.
