Giants outfield plan for Harrison Bader, Jung Hoo Lee revealed by Buster Posey

The San Francisco Giants have made a few under-the-radar moves this offseason, and the most recent one is a two-year, $20.5 million deal for outfielder Harrison Bader.

The former Philadelphia Phillies outfielder joins a new outfield unit with Jun Hoo Lee and Heliot Ramos in the outfield. But, there is a major question with Bader's addition: How will Tony Vitello set up the outfield?

Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports that Buster Posey revealed the Giants' plan in the outfield for 2026. While Ramos won't move from his left field spot, Lee will accommodate the addition of Bader by moving to right field.

Giants' outfield plan for 2026 revealed after Harrison Bader signing

"Buster Posey confirmed that Harrison Bader will play center field," Pavlovic reports. "Tony Vitello and Zack Minasian talked to Jung Hoo Lee, who will move to right field. Posey said he took it well and may still get some reps in CF at times."

This move for the Giants was the most obvious and best move they could've made with their outfield once it was revealed that Bader was signing with the Giants.

Bader is a great defensive center fielder, and while his bat might be shaky at times, his defense has always been one of the best in the Major Leagues.

Moving him off of center field wouldn't make the most sense, unless the Giants had a true superstar in center field who was even better than Bader defensively.

But Lee isn't such a player, and now will move to right field and give the Giants a very strong outfield group from left field to right field.

Defensively, there's a big improvement, and offensively, if Bader can reach the heights he showed in 2025, then the outfield will be in a much better spot than it was in years past.

The roster is still a work in progress, but with the addition of Bader and Lee's move to right field for (mostly) full-time, the Giants are finally putting together a very exciting team for the 2026 season and beyond.
