After finishing the 2025 season at .500, the San Francisco Giants decided it was time for a change. They parted ways with Bob Melvin while he still had a year left on his contract and searched for a new manager.

They interviewed a few before settling on Tony Vitello. Vitello is coming from the University of Tennessee and has no professional baseball experience.

With little professional experience, there have been some drawbacks to this decision. However, Vitello is known as one of the best college baseball coaches in the nation, and many of the players are excited to see where he can take them.

Giants' Logan Webb reveals his true feelings on the Tony Vitello hire

Recently, Giants ace Logan Webb sat down with the crew over at the Splash Hit Podcast. He was asked about how he felt about the club's decision to hire Vitello, and he was not shy in his answer.

"I was in Nashville this last week for a wedding, and I got to meet him in person, which was awesome. He's going to bring a lot of enthusiasm. He's a brilliant baseball guy. I think the big thing for him and something that is going to be great for us is that he just wants everyone on the same page. Like, this is what we're trying to do. The main goal is to win at all costs, and I think it's going to be great."

Webb is certainly excited about the potential here. However, Vitello will have his work cut out for him.

San Francisco needs to add another reliable starter behind Webb and Robbie Ray and could use some reinforcements in the bullpen. They could also use another impact bat to help stabilize the offense, either in the outfield or over at first or second base.
