The San Francisco Giants will come into the offseason looking to make some upgrades. Their 81-81 record was not enough to make the postseason, and the fan base is starting to get uneasy.
They could use some more depth in their starting rotation. Logan Webb and Robbie Ray are great, but they do not have much after that, which caused the bullpen to be used more than the team would have liked.
San Francisco will head into the offseason under first-year manager Tony Vitello, looking to add one or two arms. Luckily for them, they have a good amount to choose from between free agents and potential trades.
Giants linked to Reds' Hunter Greene in blockbuster trade idea
Surprisingly, Cincinnati Reds' ace Hunter Greene could be dangled as a potential trade candidate this winter. He is under team control through the 2029 season, which could be quite tempting for some teams.
The Athletic's Jim Bowden believes the Giants could be at play here. However, they could have stiff competition with a few other teams.
"If they want to trade him, the Reds could get a huge return with that amount of team control remaining, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, and Giants are likely to be interested."
Greene would instantly be an upgrade to the rotation. He went 7-4 during the regular season with a 2.76 ERA. The only concern will be his injury status. He missed over two months of the season dealing with a right groin strain.
