LAS VEGAS — To hell with the pick.
The Giants did not shout that beforehand but they did come out and declare that by taking the field Sunday as if they had something to play for, even though so many voices outside their building kept insisting they did not.
No one is going to write sonnets about what went down, but that the Giants decided not to go down should be applauded by those who still care about integrity and giving NFL fans a full effort — on the field and with roster deployment. The Giants do not deserve much credit for much of anything this season, but their ownership detests the very notion of tanking and thus John Mara and Steve Tisch can head into the new year feeling good about a 34-10 victory over the Raiders inside Allegiant Stadium.
Had they lost, the Giants would have secured the No. 1 pick in the 2026 draft. The Raiders really, truly played as if that mattered to them. The Giants did not. The Raiders need a quarterback and so draft positioning means more to them. The Giants have Jaxson Dart and he showed why the Giants believe they are set at that position for years to come.
