The New York Giants are currently the NFC East division leaders, sitting at 3-2-1 heading into Week 7. With the Giants set to face the Houston Texans right before both teams head on a bye, the Giants will look a lot different than they have so far.
J.J. McCarthy is now the starting quarterback, Cam Skattebo's role has significantly diminished, and unfortunately, Tremaine Edmunds is out for the rest of the season. But, that's not the only bad news for the Giants heading into Week 7.
According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Giants are going to be without superstar defensive back Jevon Holland, and reserve tight end Theo Johnson against the Texans, as both have been ruled out on Saturday, 24 hours before the game.
Giants rule out Jevon Holland for Week 7 vs. Texans
"The Giants downgraded S Jevon Holland (concussion) and TE Theo Johnson (neck) to out for tomorrow's game against the Texans," Garafolo reports.
While Isiah Likely has more than filled in the role of a number one tight end in this offense, losing Johnson for a week is still a tough blow. But as he was doubtful, the Giants were already likely to be without him this weekend.
But the Holland news is a brutal blow. He's been a superstar this season for the Giants, and not being able to have him on the field is a massive hit.
That's especially the case for Week 7. Texans' quarterback C.J. Stroud has been a great passer this season, and now with the Giants best DB off the field, Stroud could be in for a huge day.

What also makes it worse for the Giants to be without Holland is that they're also down Brian Burns and just lost Edmunds this past week as well.
This season, Holland has three interceptions with five passes defended. He's blossomed into a superstar with the Giants, and now they're going to be without him for a week.
Fortunately for the Giants, with a Week 8 bye, Holland should only miss one game with this concussion issue.
But that one game is a big one, especially with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles game set to pit the winner a 0.5 game behind New York in the NFC East race.
