The New York Giants made a very unpopular decision in Week 6 when they benched running back Cam Skattebo for Tyrone Tracy Jr., Najee Harris, and Devin Singletary against the New Orleans Saints.
With the Giants giving Skattebo no touches one week following what should've been a game-losing fumble, John Harbaugh made it clear there would be consequences for such decisions. But now, how will the RB room shake out for Week 7?
According to ESPN's Ian Rapoport, the Giants are expected to reverse course on their Skattebo decision, as the fan-favorite running back is set to be the lead running back in Week 7 against the Houston Texans after a one-week benching.
Giants expected to make Cam Skattebo the lead back again in Week 7
"Cam Skattebo is expected to return to his role as the New York Giants' lead running back Sunday against the Houston Texans, sources told NFL Network," Rapoport reports.
This change for the Giants' running back room shouldn't be a huge surprise. Skattebo gives the Giants their best chance of moving the ball on the ground.
Tracy and Singletary are the other backs in the offense, with Harris getting cut this week. Facing a difficult Texans' run defense, Skattebo gives the Giants their best bet of breaking off a big run and getting a consistent run game going.

After Harbaugh benched him for all of Week 6, only having him play a few snaps but not once touching the ball, the Giants are reportedly going to be returning a decent chunk of the backfield work to Skattebo.
The Giants' second-year running back will need to hold onto the ball, as otherwise, Harbaugh might make another change at RB this season.
There are already rumors the team might be considering adding someone in the trade market, so Skattebo's workload could permanently decrease this season depending on how Week 7 goes.
If there were ever a week he could get back in the good graces of Harbaugh and the coaching staff, it would be this one, where he's set to be a focal point in this offense once more.
