The San Francisco Giants have Bryce Eldridge up in the major leagues.
He must be good at something other than hitting, because the Giants are hardly playing their top-tier slugging prospect.
It's one of the weirdest storylines of this MLB season, and while outside of the Bay Area it might not be resonating, it's pretty much unthinkable. It's possible that none of the other 29 organizations would be handling it like this.
Eldridge is one of the best hitting prospects in baseball, but he's currently riding the bench like an afterthought.
The clear two options in a situation like this are to let him stay at Triple-A and develop further, or to bring him up to play pretty much every day.
The Giants have managed to choose door number three.
Will Brennan getting ABs over Eldridge is so ridiculous I can’t even wrap my mind around it.

Eldridge played corner outfield early in his minor league career, although he hasn't done that lately. And the Giants have Rafael Devers to play first base.
But they're also very committed to Casey Schmitt as the DH, despite the fact that Schmitt has experience all over the diamond.
Somehow, it seems there should be a way to get Eldridge into the lineup. And if there really isn't, then he should be getting everyday at bats at Triple-A.
Having the big slugger just chilling in the dugout and not even called upon to pinch-hit in a two-run loss on Tuesday night? That's inexplicable.
The Giants could hardly be handling Eldridge's development worse than this.
