Giannis Antetokounmpo has long been in trade rumors following the Bucks' tumultuous start to the 2025-2026 NBA regular season. Among the teams rumored to be Giannis' potential suitor is the Golden State Warriors, which could potentially pair him with four-time NBA champion Steph Curry.

However, the possibility of the Greek Freak going to the West Coast is now bleak following an NBA insider's verdict on the Warriors' desire for Giannis and vice versa. According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, there is no indication from the Bucks star and the Warriors organization about a possible deal to bring the former MVP to Golden State.

“Does Giannis want to be in Golden State? I don't have total clarity on that, but there's no smoke there to my knowledge," he said. "In fact, I've chatted with some of their core players, and to be clear, the indication was we don't have any reason to think that he's trying to get here.”

Giannis reportedly requested a trade out of Milwaukee before the season started, but pushed through with the Bucks.

The Bucks struggled to start this season, currently standing in the 10th seed with an 11-16 record. Such a rough start continued to intensify rumblings about Giannis' future with the team.

Giannis has only appeared in 17 games so far this season, as he dealt with a calf injury early in December. When he is on the court, he averages 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists.

NBA insider reveals Giannis' true feelings about continuous trade rumors

Rumors on Giannis Antetokounmpo's future with the Bucks have gotten to the star's head, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.

During the Kevin O'Connor show, Haynes said that Antetokounmpo has been "uncomfortable" with the talks about his future, citing the Bucks star's representatives he talked to.

“From the conversation I had with him a week ago, he said he’s not comfortable with all the rumors. He claims it’s not coming from him — most of these conversations are coming from his representatives," Haynes said.

Giannis' current contract will run until the 2026-2027 season, before having a player option in the following year.

For now, the Bucks are expected to stick with the Greek Freak as they navigate through the middle of the Eastern Conference pack.
