Former NBA star Mychal Thompson stirred fresh talk about a possible Giannis Antetokounmpo move to the Golden State Warriors with a recent social media post linking the league’s top players to trade season speculation.

Following reports that Antetokounmpo is "ready for a new home" ahead of the February 5, 2026, trade deadline, Mychal Thompson posted on X, “So… the market is now open for Yannis? MY prediction? He ends up in SF…”.

As a two-time NBA champion and current broadcaster with deep Warriors connections through his son, Mychal's words carry an insider feel that has heightened the buzz among league observers.

ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania also shared his views on X, saying, “Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for a new home at the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline or in the offseason as several rival teams make aggressive offers to the Milwaukee Bucks for him, and the franchise is starting to listen.”

The Milwaukee Bucks are now open to receiving strong trade offers for their two-time MVP. This comes as the team is having a tough season with a record of 18 wins and 27 losses.

Analysts say the Warriors might offer a trade deal that includes Jonathan Kuminga and Jimmy Butler to match salaries, and as many as four first-round picks.

Giannis is widely discussed as a possible trade piece ahead of the NBA’s February 5 deadline, with several teams reportedly making aggressive offers to the Milwaukee Bucks and the franchise listening for the right return.

Thompson’s post is not part of official team communication, and there is currently no confirmed trade agreement between the Warriors and Bucks. Sources indicate that most reported scenarios are merely speculative until front offices confirm any moves.

Klay is currently averaging 13.7 PPG and shooting 38% from three for the Mavericks, leading to reports that he is "stuck in purgatory".

Some analysts suggest a "sentimental reunion" where the Warriors trade for Klay. This would let him finish his career alongside Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

Acquiring both Curry and Antetokounmpo would create a strong core with Thompson, but salary-cap constraints and the Warriors' limited assets make it highly unlikely.
