It’s been a long eight years since Colombia has been here.

After just barely missing the 2022 World Cup, Los Cafeteros is set to play in their first round of 16 match since 2018 this week.

On Tuesday, July 7, Luis Díaz’s dynamic club look to continue their winning ways against Granit Xhaka’s disciplined Switzerland at Vancouver, CA’s BC Place Stadium.

If you’d like to be there, last-minute tickets are still available for the cutthroat contest in Canada.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on seats was $635 including fees on SeatGeek.

Lower-level seats start at $755 including fees.

Ahead of this round of 16 showdown, most oddsmakers project that Colombia has a slight edge although Yahoo! Sports “expect[s] Switzerland to emerge triumphant at the end of a high-scoring encounter.”

Also working in the Rossocrociati’s favor is the fact that Xhaka, Breel Embolo and Manuel Akanji have already played on the pitch in Vancouver.

Their second group stage match against Canada went down at BC Place Stadium on June 24. They ended up winning that match — where approximately 90% of the fans supported the Canucks — 2-1.

Still, the Swiss are cautious and know the challenge that lies ahead.

“The Colombians are not only emotional on the pitch, but also in the stands,” Switzerland midfielder Ardon Jashari said. “I think we also had that at the World Cup in Qatar with Brazil. Now it’s just another situation. We are in a knockout phase. It will certainly be a hot game, even in the stands.”

Want to be in the stands, cheering “¡Vamos, vamos Colombia, vamos a ganar!” for Los Cafeteros or “Hey Hey, wär nid gumpet, isch käi Schwyzer” for Rossocrociati?

We’re here to help make that dream a reality.
