Gerwyn Price sets tone for World Matchplay of Darts after winning second title this week

What a week it was for The Iceman, Gerwyn Price.

His form as of late is making him appear unstoppable and someone that no player will want to cross paths with at Blackpool next week.

Gerwyn Price has a career week

Price was the winner of the Poland Darts Masters last week, which was good on its own, but apparently he felt he had to do more than win just that tournament, before the World Matchplay.

The Premier League of Darts seemed to propel Price over the past few months.

Originally, fans weren't happy when Gerwyn Price and Nathan Aspinall were selected to be in the 2025 Premier League of Darts.

Both were able to quiet the doubters, as they both made the play-off night.

Since that play-off night, Price has been on a roll.

He made several semifinal runs on the World Series of Darts stage before picking up a title in Poland last week.

Price then went on to make a run to the final at Players Championship 21, but lost to Bradley Brooks. Through seven games that day, he averaged a cumulative 96.08.

The day before at Players Championship 20, Price made the semifinal, averaging just north of 95 that day.

Just a few days later, Price put together a campaign this weekend at the Baltic Sea Darts Open in Kiel.

En route to winning the final, Price beat William O'Connor, Wessel Nijman, Luke Humphries, Chris Dobey and Gary Anderson.

Gerywn Price has to be feeling good heading into the World Matchplay after his results in the last 10 days.

Some big names chose to sit out this weekend's event to rest up for Blackpool, but for Price, it could be a difference maker to compete and not take time off.

His form is the best it has looked in some time, and he could use his recent results as an opportunity to carry some momentum into next week's tournament.

He's set to play Daryl Gurney in the first round of the World Matchplay, but his potential matchups after that round, if he continues to advance, could be very difficult.

With how the seeding is set up, Price could have to play Daryl Gurney (R32), Chris Dobey (R16), Michael van Gerwen (QF), Luke Littler (SF) and Luke Humphries (F).

He might have to face big name after big name to get to a final, which, if he does go on to win, could end up being one of the strongest title runs we see from him in his career.

The World Matchplay of Darts kicks off on Jul. 19.
