It's been four years since Gerwyn Price won a major title in PDC darts, yet he's hovered around or been inside the top-10 during the past 3-4 years.
Price has experienced struggles during stretches since his major title wins in 2021 and 2022, but he's always been reliable on the Pro Tour.
He seems to finally be back in contention to win a major title, as he's dominated on the Pro Tour in recent months, and at this weekend's European Darts Grand Prix.
Gerwyn Price continues elite form, makes history with Euro Tour event title win
Price entered the event as the #6 seed and had a tough opening match against a solid opponent, Dave Chisnall, in the second round.
He managed to escape with a 6-4 win, and it wouldn't get any easier for him in the following rounds.
He played Chris Dobey next, but averaged 105.96 in an impressive 6-4 win.
In the quarterfinals, he faced Martin Schindler, who had the full support of the German crowd, which led to patches of whistling and distractions from the crowd that shook Price a few times when he was on the oche.
Nonetheless, he came away with a 6-5 win, taking the sudden-death leg, and letting out a vintage Gezzy roar once the final double was hit.
In the semifinals, he faced Wessel Nijman, a Euro Tour event winner this year with multiple Players Championship event titles as well.
The two faced each other earlier this year in a Euro Tour event final, with Nijman getting the win and claiming his first career Euro Tour event title.
Price was able to get revenge this time around, winning 7-4, and set up a final match against Ross Smith.
The two had a back-and-forth match in the final, but Price was able to pull away late, grabbing some key legs to win 8-6.
This event title was the 10th of Price's decorated Euro Tour career, which moved him into second-place all-time for most Euro Tour event titles by a player (he trails only Michael van Gerwen - 38 titles).
Price is currently in third place in the 2026 Premier League, and with a little over a month to go, he's proved he's in quality enough form to make a run at the PL title.
It's all coming together at the right time for the Iceman, with the PL final next month, the Matchplay in July and many other majors on the horizon in the later stages of the year.
