Gerrit Cole returning to Yankees for first MLB start since Tommy John surgery

Gerrit Cole is officially back.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced Tuesday that Cole will make his major league return on Friday against the Rays in The Bronx.

The 35-year-old missed all of last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Cole’s return provides a boost to a Yankees rotation that just lost lefty Max Fried to an elbow injury for approximately a month.
