Several fans reacted to Dallas Mavericks owner Miriam Adelson offering a $250 million donation in support of US President Donald Trump's third-term candidacy.
Trump has been rumored to be interested in a possible third presidential term. The US Constitution states that a president is limited to two terms. Adelson said she met with former Harvard Law School professor and prominent attorney Alan Dershowitz about the legalities of Trump's third term in 2028.
"I met Alan Dershowitz, and he said the legal thing about four more years," Adelson told Trump at the White House Hanukkah reception on Tuesday. "And I say, 'Alan, I agree with you.' So we can do it. Think about it."•

Per Forbes, the Adelson family is worth $41.3 billion. Miriam and her late husband, casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, have long been known as among the top backers of Trump.
Adelson's family owns the Las Vegas Sands Corp., which bought the Mavericks' controlling stake from longtime majority owner Mark Cuban in late 2023. Adelson's son-in-law, Patrick Dumont, serves as the team's governor.
Patrick Dumont is employing a 'cautious approach' with the Mavericks amid trade rumors
Following the firing of Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison on Nov. 11, there have been rumors that the team will make "significant roster moves."
According to NBA insider Marc Stein on Friday, Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont has been more involved in basketball decisions following Harrison's dismissal. Per Stein, Dumont has employed what seemed to be a cautious approach, as he intends to gather several insights before making the decision.
Along with Dumont, coach Jason Kidd, minority owner Mark Cuban and co-interim general managers Matt Riccardi and Michael Finley are all part of the inner circle of the front office. Stein noted that any roster decision will stem from careful deliberation, which will take into account the enraged and disappointed fan base.
Dallas is No. 12 in the West with a 10-17 record and will next face the Detroit Pistons on Friday.
