Garden security for Trump’s Game 3 attendance irks Spurs’ De’Aaron Fox

De’Aaron Fox was moaning hours before tip off.

The Spurs guard was not thrilled with all the extra security procedures around Madison Square Garden due to President Trump attending Game 3 between the Knicks and Spurs Monday night.

“I think the president being here just makes it inconvenient on everybody else,” Fox said at shootaround. “We got, obviously, more security. We gotta like send stuff early. I think our busses are a little earlier.”

MSG implemented TSA-like security screening due to president Trump’s presence. They suggested fans get to the Garden at least two hours early in order to get inside the arena in time for the start of the game. Starting at 4 p.m., NYPD shut down vehicular and pedestrian traffic from West 30th Street to West 35th Street between 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue.

It seems like not even the players were exempt from the added headache.

“We’re getting screened like it’s TSA,” Fox said. “It’s a little inconvenient for the people that’s got to play, but it is what it is.”
