Entrepreneur Nidhi Kapur has taken the concept of “DIY” to the next level.
When she couldn’t find luxury home furnishings at the price point she wanted, Kapur made them herself — via skilled artisans in North Carolina.
Now Kapur, the founder and CEO of Maiden Home, and her husband Vinay R. Kapur, are looking to sell their tony Tribeca duplex — decked out in Maiden Home furnishings — for $4.75 million.
It’s at 55 Warren St., where Daniel Craig, best known for his role as James Bond, once owned the penthouse.
Kapur, the former head of business development at Birchbox, launched Maiden Home in 2017 — the same year she and her husband bought the duplex for $3.49 million. While it started as an online direct-to-consumer brand, Maiden Home now has a shop in the Meatpacking District. Its furnishings — such as side tables, sectionals and chairs — are both functional and chic, and blend well into any home design aesthetic.
The roomy 3,174-square-foot aerie is legal one-bedroom, but convertible, and features 13-foot ceilings, multiple skylights, hardwood floors, a floating staircase — and lots of space to showcase art.
The home opens to a great room, with wide-plank herringbone floors, vaulted ceilings, skylights and a custom plaster fireplace.
There’s also a chef’s kitchen with a pantry and a temperature-controlled wine closet for more than 700 bottles, along with a lounge and a wet bar on an elevated platform.
A sculptural floating staircase leads to the lower floor, which holds the bedrooms. The main bedroom suite features custom closets and a spa-like marble bath. There’s also a media lounge with custom millwork to showcase art and an additional room that could function as a library or home office.
The building, which features a limestone facade, was built in 1920.
