Former WWE champion to betray Mercedes Mone upon their reunion in AEW? Exploring the possibility

Mercedes Mone has been a dominant force in the ring ever since she joined AEW. After winning the TBS Championship, Mone went on a title-collecting spree where she won championships from several promotions around the world. At one point, she held over ten championships simultaneously, which earned her the nickname Ultimo Mone. However, in recent weeks, it looks like her downfall might've started after she lost the ROH Women's World Television Title to Red Velvet at Final Battle 2025. Now, another surprise challenger might soon arise.

Mercedes Mone and Athena were rivals before they joined forces in the Women's Tag Team Championship tournament. While they dominated as singles stars in AEW and ROH, they lacked the necessary chemistry needed to succeed as a tag team. Therefore, they crashed out of the tournament earlier than expected. However, they will reunite again next week on Dynamite when they team up with Marina Shafir and Megan Bayne to face the team of Willow Nightingale, Harley Cameron, Toni Storm, and Mina Shirakawa. The babyface team will probably pick up the win. Following this loss, Athena could end up betraying The CEO. Her reason for betraying Mone could be that she wants a shot at the TBS Championship, and she might view The CEO as being weak after she recently lost one of her titles. Therefore, this could be the beginning of the storyline that leads to that match.

Mercedes Mone recently broke silence after her loss to Red Velvet

At ROH Final Battle 2025, Mercedes Mone defended the Women's World Television Title against Red Velvet. Although the former WWE star was the favorite to win the match, Red Velvet pulled off a shocking win.

During a recent episode of Collision, The CEO was interviewed backstage by Lexy Nair. The TBS Champion refused to acknowledge her loss and instead claimed that this one defeat did not change the fact that she was still a global icon.

It will be interesting to see if Mone will be able to hold on to her remaining titles.
