Many are calling this past season's Ohio State football team—the 2025 College Football Playoff National Champions—one of the best in the history of college football. There's definitely room for debate.
With a team that consisted of 14 former five-stars—yes, 14—and most of those starting or earning playing time outside of a few, the 2024 Buckeyes boasted a roster packed with talent.
That included their dynamic backfield of TreVeyon Henderson and Ole Miss transfer Quinshon Judkins, who some are hailing as one of the best tandems in college football history.
Former USC and NFL running back LenDale White wasn’t having it, though.
"Me and president Reggie Bush had 3k yards, rushing 44 TDs, 700 receiving yards... and the president won the Heisman. Argue wit yo mammy," White posted in response to the claim.
White was referring to the 2005 USC season, where the Trojans narrowly missed their third consecutive national title, losing to Texas in the Rose Bowl. That season, the legendary running back duo rushed for a combined 3,048 yards, scored 44 touchdowns, and added 697 yards receiving.
In comparison, Henderson and Judkins combined for 2,076 rushing yards, 445 receiving yards, and 27 total touchdowns.
White, who led USC in touchdowns (26) and Bush, who led in scrimmage yards (2,218), helped propel USC to the No. 1 team in the country, finishing with the No. 2 scoring offense (49.1 points per game) and No. 1 in yardage (579.8 per game).
There's no question that if anyone has the right to argue against Ohio State's running backs being considered the best ever, it’s White, who had tremendous success at USC. White himself finished his college career with 3,490 yards from scrimmage and 57 touchdowns.
It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of Ohio State's successful season, leading to a national title. But when you look at the history and numbers, the data doesn’t lie.
