Former Steelers wide receiver George Pickens 'dialed in' with Cowboys early on

While George Pickens was rarely on his best behavior with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he is getting off on the right foot with the Dallas Cowboys.

Pickens' issues with the Steelers are now well-documented, and they had piled up so much that Pittsburgh couldn't let it go any longer, which led to the trade to the Cowboys.

So far, so good in Dallas, at least according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who notes that Pickens is "dialed in" for meetings as he tries to get acclimated to his new team.

"He obviously is a tremendous athlete, but I love watching him in meetings, because in meetings, he's been so dialed in, taking great notes," Schottenheimer said, per Todd Archer of ESPN. "He knows he's a little bit behind, not a lot, but a little bit behind in terms of what the veterans are doing. But his intentionality in the meeting room has been really cool for me to see."

If the Cowboys can get a focused and more mature George Pickens, it's going to pay huge dividends for Dallas' offense. Unfortunately for Dallas, that version of Pickens isn't guaranteed to stick around.

The biggest potential problem we see is target distribution.

CeeDee Lamb is no doubt Dak Prescott's No. 1 target and will garner most of the looks in the passing game. Barring a huge step forward in his maturity, which we'll have to see to believe, if Pickens doesn't get a large share of targets, there's going to be a problem, and that can cause issues in the locker room.

Pickens also has to show better work ethic by being on time, and he can't keep losing his cool on the field, two things that were issues for him in Pittsburgh.

There are just too many bad avenues this situation can go down for us to fully trust Pickens will work out in Dallas. We'll see how long this honeymoon period lasts.
