It has been a long time since we've heard anything related to former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool and the NFL.

But that drought is now ending.

According to The Athletic's Matt Schneidman, Claypool, who has not suited up in an NFL game since 2023, is in attendance at the Packers' rookie minicamp.

"Veteran WR Chase Claypool here at Packers rookie minicamp on a tryout basis," Schneidman reported.

A former second-round pick of the Steelers in 2020, Claypool showed a ton of promise over his first two years in the NFL with a pair of 800-yard seasons.

However, his career began to hit the skids in 2022, when he was traded from the Steelers to the Chicago Bears after eight games that season.

With a need at wide receiver, the Bears paid a hefty price for him: a 2023 second-round pick. That pick eventually turned into cornerback Joey Porter Jr. for the Steelers.

Claypool ended up playing in 10 games (five starts) during his Bears stint and tallied just 18 catches for 191 yards and one touchdown.

He was swiftly dealt to the Miami Dolphins in 2023 for a late-round pick swap and posted just four catches for 26 yards in nine games.

Claypool latched on with the Buffalo Bills in 2024, but he didn't make it through training camp before being placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Wide receiver is one of the Packers' deepest positions, so there's no guarantees he'll be able to latch on with Green Bay.
