After witnessing one of the most legendary NFL draft slides in the history of the league, anyone and everyone has advice for Shedeur Sanders.
And you can now include former NFL MVP Cam Newton among them.
During a recent episode of his podcast, Newton had wise advice for Sanders that the Colorado football legend should definitely heed.
"Lead with work, not clout," Newton said. "I think he took on the persona of a DB, not a QB. As a DB, you're able to do certain things. You can speak loud and be rambunctious and have that bravado.
"But as a quarterback, reminder: you are the CEO of that franchise."
While others think that the situation with Cleveland is not a good one for Sanders thanks to the crowded quarterbacks room that includes Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and the injured Deshaun Watson, Newton sees it another way.
He also made the bold prediction that Sanders will eventually start in his rookie season.
"This is the best situation for Shedeur because he has to claw his way to the top," Newton said. "Does he have the capabilities of doing it? Absolutely. And if I'm in his camp, I'm telling him, like, 'Bro, let's get to work. Let's control what we can control now.'
"I do see Shedeur Sanders starting for the Cleveland Browns at some point this year."
That is a pretty bold prediction considering Sanders may not even stick beyond camp, seeing as how he's a fifth-round pick and nothing is guaranteed.
Even if he sticks following training camp and the preseason, he may have to jump one of two veterans in Flacco and/or Pickett, and then he'll have to land one spot higher than Gabriel on the depth chart.
None of this is to say that Sanders won't deliver and eventually become a starter, but he might find that difficult to do in his first season.
