The Miami Heat have lost the first three games of the 2026-27 NBA season. They have done well to retool the team after trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo in the 2026 offseason. However, it has not been a great start for the Heat since they made that trade.

Of course, Antetokounmpo was brilliant for two of the three games, but he is not the only one who should step up. The rest of the team must step up, and former NBA All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas has given his insights into what the problem really is in Miami.

Isaiah Thomas gets brutally honest about the Heat's struggles in the 0-3 start

When it comes to the Heat, it seems that the offense is not doing so well. They have Antetokounmpo, who is clearly the star player. He has done well when he is not in foul trouble, as he scored over 30 points in the first two games of the season.

Against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday, he struggled with foul trouble. In fact, head coach Erik Spoelstra was quite frustrated about the referees in that game because he barely got to play Antetokounmpo and give him time to build up his rhythm.

Amid all these defeats, it has become clear that the Heat's offensive struggles could be a big issue moving forward. Thomas certainly thinks so, as he believes that the Heat have a guard problem, especially with Davion Mitchell leading the charge.

"Miami need a dynamic PG who can score, catch and shoot at a high level and be able to make things easier for the MAIN guys. Bam and Greek Freak can’t make each other better on offense. Play same position and operate in same areas," Thomas said about the Heat's offensive struggles on his X account.

It is time for the rest of the Heat roster to step up. Antetokounmpo cannot be the only player who generates the offense because if they want to win games, they must have a reliable offense to fall back on because their defense won't be carrying them every time.
