Former first-round wide receiver bust to visit Broncos after Week 6

The Denver Broncos are coming off an incredible comeback win over the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in Philadelphia to get to 3-2, and tie the Los Angeles Chargers atop the AFC West.

Denver is trying to carry that momentum to their Week 6 matchup in London against the New York Jets to try and keep pace or take the lead in the division. With the injuries to the Chargers roster, and the Kansas City Chiefs at 2-3, the Broncos are in a decent position to make a push to win the AFC West.

But the Broncos, in good shape, aren't done exploring ways to improve the team. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Broncos are hosting a former first-round wide receiver who was a bust on his first team, but could be a perfect change-of-scenery candidate.

The Broncos will host a former first-round wide receiver after Week 6

"Former Titans WR Treylon Burks, newly available and one of the top free agents, is planning to visit the Broncos next week, sources say," Rapoport reports. "The former first-rounder will likely take other visits after receiving significant interest."

Treylon Burks was a first-round pick by the Tennessee Titans in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he didn't pan out with the AFC South team. While not the reason he struggled, he was picked by the Titans as part of their replacement plan for AJ Brown.

The Titans' infamous trade of Brown to the Eagles, who in the four years since have made it to two Super Bowls and won one, was a much-maligned deal in the moment, and years later, looks even worse.

Burks was drafted 18th overall by the Titans, and he only lasted three years in Tennessee before the Titans cut him before the 2025 NFL season. He has had 699 receiving yards in his NFL career on 53 receptions with only one receiving touchdown.

That touchdown ironically came against the Eagles in 2022, but he was injured on the play and sat out the next two games before coming back and recording eight catches for 85 yards in the final three weeks of the season.

Last year with the Titans, Burks played in just five games and had four receptions for 34 yards. In 2022, he had 444 yards receiving and one touchdown, while in 2023, he hauled in 16 receptions for 221 yards in only 11 games.

The Broncos don't need wide receiver help, with Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims, and Pat Bryant making up a solid wide receiver room. But, adding a former first-rounder as a flier isn't a bad idea for a strong team like Denver.

Sean Payton and the Broncos don't need Burks to be successful this season, but taking a chance on him wouldn't be the worst use of a roster spot.

The 25-year-old won't sign anywhere right away as he looks for the right landing spot, but if he does choose Denver, then the Broncos will be adding a very intriguing weapon for Nix for the remainder of the 2025 NFL season.
