Former Dodgers All-Star with 4.30 ERA tabbed as prime target for Braves

If there's one club that could use extra depth in its starting rotation, it's the Atlanta Braves

Recent predictions have the Braves going outside the organization to make up for a handful of injuries. One of the free agents connected to Atlanta is right-hander Lucas Giolito.

Spencer Strider, Hurston Waldrep, and Spencer Schwellenbach both began the season on the injured list, with left-hander Joey Wentz out for the season after he tore his ACL during spring training.

Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer linked the Braves to a two-time All-Star on Tuesday, noting that he's been consistent and can eat innings for the NL East club.

Braves named best landing spot for 10-year veteran

"As everyone should be well aware by now, Atlanta's rotation has been decimated by injuries. It has a 3.02 ERA anyway, but that is to be taken with a boulder of salt," Rymer wrote.

Tyler Anderson, a 10-year veteran who spent the past three seasons with the Los Angeles Angels, is a free agent. With a 94 ERA+, he gave the Angels below-average numbers in 2025, including just 6.9 strikeouts per nine innings.

"At the least, Anderson would be a depth piece for them to stash in the minors until he's needed," Rymer added. "At best, he could step right into their rotation as soon as he's ramped up."

The Blue Jays were in a similar situation with injuries and signed left-hander Patrick Corbin the other day. He's there for insurance and to eat innings, something Anderson could easily do for the Braves.
