Florida men’s basketball head coach Todd Golden is sticking around Gainesville for a while.

Fresh off a national championship, Golden signed a six-year, $40.5 million extension that will keep him with the Gators through the 2030-31 season, the team announced Tuesday.

“My family and I are grateful to be a part of Gator Nation and for the opportunity to lead this great program three years ago,” Golden said in a statement. “As we’ve shown during our time in Gainesville, the University of Florida is an institution that has the resources, support, and people in place to compete and win national championships.

“I am so appreciative of each and every player and staff member who have been critical to the success we’ve experienced here. My family and I look forward to our future here at UF and to the continued success of our men’s basketball program.”

The Gators went 36-4 during the regular season under Golden en route to the national title, the third in school history and first since 2007.

Golden has been the head coach at Florida for three seasons since leaving San Francisco after the 2022 season.

In his second season at the helm, the Gators made the NCAA Tournament before falling in the Round of 64.

In three seasons before Golden’s arrival, the Gators missed the tournament twice, making it to the second round in the school’s only appearance.

“Todd has done an incredible job getting Florida men’s basketball back where it belongs,” Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin said. “We believed in his vision, his competitive nature and his modern approach to the game back in 2022, and he has validated that belief in a relatively short time and helped create memories of a lifetime for another generation of Gator fans.”

The new contract comes a few months after Golden was cleared of allegations of sexual exploitation, sexual harassment and stalking following a four-month Title IX investigation.

“The University of Florida takes these matters seriously and works deliberately to ensure that due process is upheld for everyone,” university spokesman Steve Orlando said in a statement in late January. “After a thorough investigation that included dozens of interviews over the past months, the University of Florida has found no evidence that Todd Golden violated Title IX.

“The Title IX office has closed its investigation.”
