DiJonai Carrington was a big part of the Minnesota Lynx's bench before she had to exit with an injury. In September earlier this year, Carrington exited the 2025 season with a foot injury in the first-round series against the Golden State Valkyries.
Almost two months later, the Lynx star made a big update on her injury. In a post on her Instagram Story on Friday, the 2024 Most Improved Player made an emotional reveal about heading into the next phase of her recovery.
"first time "walking" 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹," she wrote. "y'all don't know how hard these last 2 months since my injury++++ life changes have been but officially 6 weeks post op today & starting the weight bearing process." "thank you Jesus for the small wins."

In Game 2 of the opening round against the Golden State Valkyries, Carrington exited late in the game with a foot strain. It was later announced that she would miss the rest of the season due to the injury.
She played 11 games for the Lynx after she was traded from the Dallas Wings. As a Lynx player, she averaged 8.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.2 blocks in 16 minutes.
Before being traded to the Lynx, DiJonai Carrington played 20 games for the Dallas Wings alongside Paige Bueckers. Although she saw a decrease in her role compared to her breakout 2024 season with the Connecticut Sun, she averaged 10.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

Still recovering from the foot injury, DiJonai Carrington is set to miss the second season of Unrivaled. The Lynx star participated in the inaugural season of the 3x3 league, representing the Mist BC.
Carrington took to her social media handle to reveal her honest feelings about missing the second season.
"💔💔💔 so sick about this but I know my God is cooking up somethin real special!!!🙏🏽 psalm 138:8," she wrote, reacting to a post by @UnderdogWNBAIn her first season in Unrivaled, Carrington played 11 games for the Mist BC. She averaged 9.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game. However, Carrington and her team failed to make the playoffs with a 5-9 record.
Another notable name missing from he second season is Chicago Sky star Angel Reese. The Unrivaled is set to see some of the well-known new faces in the second season, including Paige Bueckers and Sonia Citron.
