Fiery Tesla crash forces hazmat emergency as 2 hospitalized

A white Tesla burst into a terrifying fireball on Monday morning after a crash in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley, sending two people to the hospital.

The incident required a hazmat response from the Los Angeles Fire Department to deal with the vehicle’s toxic lithium-ion battery. The crash occurred around 7:45 a.m. on West Nordhoff Street near Mason Avenue, with dramatic video showing the electric vehicle completely inundated in flames. Debris, including a tire, flew across the pavement onto the sidewalk.

Footage captured a woman sprawled on the ground while bystanders desperately tried to help before emergency crews arrived.

The inferno was reportedly sparked after a two-car collision. The vehicle’s lithium-ion battery can spew dangerous chemicals and fumes into the air if it catches on fire.

Tthe fire was finally extinguished around 8:31 a.m..

The victims were transported to local hospitals for unknown injuries, according to the fire department, though their condition is unclear.
