After a tumultuous offseason filled with CBA negotiations, the WNBA season is finally back with a star-studded matchup.

Caitlin Clark's sophomore season in 2025 was plagued by injuries, as she battled groin issues that limited her to just 13 games. Still, the Fever made the playoffs with a 24-20 record, but lost to the eventual champion Aces in the semifinals.

With Clark out for much of the season, Kelsey Mitchell excelled, averaging more than 20 points per game across all 44 regular-season contests. Aaliyah Boston, Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham are also key members of the team, while Indiana added Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Raven Johnson during the offseason.

Indiana's first game of the year will come at home against the Dallas Wings, who are hoping to finally begin contending after two straight tough seasons.

The Wings are, of course, led by Paige Bueckers, who won Rookie of the Year last season. The point guard averaged 19.2 points and 5.4 assists in 2025 and proved herself to be one of the league’s top young stars.

However, Dallas still finished tied for the worst record in the WNBA in 2025, going 10-34 on the season. As a result, the Wings earned the No. 1 overall pick and selected Bueckers’ former UConn teammate Azzi Fudd with the top selection.

This will be Bueckers and Fudd’s first game together in the WNBA after playing several years together in college, as they hope to form a dynamic duo in Dallas for years to come.
