'Feel bad for opposing OLs': Bengals OT overwhelmed upon meeting Dexter Lawrence

Dexter Lawrence is a "big dude," and it's no joke coming from the mouth of 6-foot-8, 350-pound Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Amarius Mims.

The New York Giants traded Lawrence to the Bengals in exchange for a No. 10 pick in the 2026 NFL draft. The Bengals took no time to extend the nose tackle to a one-year, $28 million extension, therefore keeping the 6-foot-2, 342-pound dude with them through the 2028 season.

On Monday, Mims met Lawrence for the first time in person and he was shocked to witness the massive frame. Mims is glad he no longer has to face Lawrence rushing through the Bengals' offensive lines, saying he'd rather be his teammate.

“So I met him last night, we went to dinner last night, and I just shook his hand," Mims told reporters. "And I’m like, I’m a big dude. So I shake his hand, I’m like, all right, big guy shakes hand, kind of bring it in. I went backwards, and he just stood there. I’m like, man, all right, he’s a dude too. So I’m like, man, like I said, I’m happy he’s here, I’m glad he’s our teammate.

"And like I said, I feel worse for the opposing offensive lines than for us. Like I said, we’ve got to practice against him, don’t get me wrong, so he can do some damage there. But like I said, I’d much rather have him as my teammate than go against him. So like I said, I’m happy he’s here, and we’re all excited about it. We’re just trying to get better every day until the season starts. So let’s get to work.”

Dexter Lawrence shows gratitude in first press conference

After failed negotiations with the Giants, Dexter Lawrence requested a trade and landed at Cincinnati.

In his first press conference since the trade, Lawrence recently addressed his emotions during the entire trade. The defensive star was "stressed" but feels "blessed" and excited about joining the Bengals after what he called an "abrupt" trade.

Lawrence added that he owes the Bengals a good performance after the franchise traded their premium draft pick in exchange.
