LAKELAND, Fla., Aug. 06, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) and the Dental Amalgam Mercury Solutions (DAMS INC) have joined forces to petition the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ban mercury fillings, also known as silver fillings or dental amalgam. This collaborative effort marks a significant step towards eliminating the most common source of mercury exposure in the US population. Mercury, a cumulative neurotoxin, makes up about 50% of an amalgam filling and poses significant health risks to vulnerable populations.
