Jordan Lawlar started to make a name for himself as a high school baseball player in Texas. As a senior, he was named the Texas Gatorade Player of the year and committed to play baseball at Vanderbilt.
However, he was one of the top draft prospects in the 2021 MLB Draft and was taken sixth overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Being drafted so high, he ditched Vanderbilt and signed his pro deal.
He would go on to fly through the minors and make his MLB debut in September of the 2023 season, but would return to the minors the following year. In 2024, he would miss time after rupturing his ulnar collateral ligament in his thumb.

Fantasy owners should be paying attention to Jordan Lawlar's strong spring
Jordan Lawlar's stock is going up this year. He is no longer blocked by Eugenio Suarez, but third base won't be an option for him after Arizona traded for Nolan Arenado.
So, he has transitioned to the outfield, something more and more infield prospects have been doing in recent years. He has blasted four home runs this spring, one coming off his barrel at 109.7 mph, while hitting .323.
ESPN's Tristan H. Cockcroft circles him as someone every fantasy owner should be paying attention to.
"Again, with the lessons of patience regarding prospects' adjustment to the majors, Lawlar hasn't truly received a lengthy chance at this level, due both to the presence of Eugenio Suarez as well as his own hamstring issues last summer. Now experimenting in center field, Lawlar seems to be finding his own in Cactus League play, hitting four home runs with a 46.2% hard-hit rate thus far. He's a classic example of post-hype fantasy sleeper."
Lawlar is finally starting to find himself out there, and could be in store for his best season to date. If he can stay on the field and continue to perform as he has over the spring, he could make plenty of fantasy owners very happy this year.
