The Mavericks have shifted completely toward the Cooper Flagg movement after sending Anthony Davis to the Wizards ahead of the deadline.
The timing couldn’t have been better for Flagg’s development. The Rookie of the Year frontrunner is in the middle of his best stretch as a pro. Flagg has scored at least 30 points in four straight games — now the youngest player ever to accomplish that — which includes his career high 49-point performance.
As good as Flagg has been, Victor Wembanyama has dominated this matchup through two meetings. He opened the season scoring 45 points against a healthy and defensively stout Mavericks lineup. On Thursday, Wemby filled up the boxscore in every area: 29 points (with five 3-pointers), 11 rebounds, six assists, two steals, and three blocks.
