FAA pauses some flights into LAX as staffing issues plague bustling airport

The Federal Aviation Administration temporarily paused some incoming flights to LAX Monday morning due to staffing shortages at a major regional radar facility.

“Because a traffic management program is delaying some arriving flights, departing flight schedules may be affected. Check with your airline to determine if your flight is affected,” FAA said in an alert Monday morning.

The delay is caused by staffing issues at Southern California Terminal Radar Approach Control (SCT), which oversees airspace covering most of Southern California, reports NBC LA.

The facility manages air traffic across one of the nation’s busiest airspaces, spanning from north of Burbank to the US–Mexico border and from San Bernardino west to Santa Catalina Island.
