Newly unsealed records reveal that Jeffrey Epstein kept some of his underage victims in an apartment building just 10 blocks from his Upper East Side townhouse.
301 E. 66th St., a 16-story postwar condo between First and Second avenues with a 24-hour doorman, hid another sordid operation.
The files show the building functioned as a logistical hub for Epstein’s world and, according to civil complaints and sworn testimony, the underage girls he trafficked. More than a dozen apartments also cycled between wealthy guests, notable foreign dignitaries and Epstein staffers.
The sheer volume of high-profile names including former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and longevity guru and CBS contributor Peter Attia, reinforces how No. 301 functioned as a kind of shadow annex — separate from the notorious townhouse.
‘Apts. for models’
The newly released emails show the most disturbing aspects — those being the living arrangement for the young girls. In Epstein’s address book, certain units were marked “Apts. for models.”
One victim had previously described arriving at the building and being shown to a small apartment stocked with domestic comforts.
“I remember the apartment clearly,” she said in her 2022 account. “It was relatively small and there was Dannon yogurt in the fridge and a basket of fruit and cookies on the counter.”
It was a gesture showing the guise of care — before she was taken about nine blocks away to Epstein’s townhouse at 9 E. 71st St. to give him a massage.
“I remember feeling quite special,” she recalled in the interview. ‘It was part of the manipulation — here we are caring for you, we are providing for you.’ That’s all part of the grooming process.”
Civil filings from 2015 allege that employees of MC2 Models, headed by a longtime Epstein associate, told attorney Bradley Edwards — a representative for the victims — that Epstein’s “numerous condos at 301 East 66 Street” were used to house young models brought from overseas on promises of work. According to sworn statements referenced in litigation, visas were arranged and the girls were charged rent.
One complaint alleges Epstein provided “living quarters” at 301 East 66th Street, along with car service and other benefits, as inducement to maintain sexual compliance.
In a 2015 email, an associate wrote to Epstein that a young woman was “asking what apartment can become hers” and listed available options: 11J, 11B, 11P, 8A, and 10B — noting that another unit was being renovated. The message asked plainly: “What apartment do you want to call her own?”
Emails also show Epstein’s driver, identified as “Jojo,” instructed to collect “the girls” from the building at 8:15 a.m. and deliver them to the 71st Street townhouse by 8:30.
“JE would like everyone to be at the house at 8:30am,” Jojo wrote.
Another message describes waiting for a young girl’s arrival at JFK, bringing her to 301 to “settle in” before taking her “over.”
Other apartments, according to the documents, include Nos. 10F and 10N. The former, with one-bedroom, has a balcony, according to a 2023 listing. The latter, also a one-bedroom, describes eastern exposures that flood the unit with light all day, according to a 2024 listing.
The ownership structure — and Mark Epstein’s role
Property records show that a majority of the building’s roughly 200 units — more than 150 — are owned by an entity called 301 66 Owners Corp., which shares an address with Ossa Properties, the company run by Epstein’s brother, Mark Epstein.
Mark, who declined to comment for this story, has previously said he bought the building in the early 1990s and has denied operational knowledge of his brother’s conduct there. The internal emails show that Jeffrey Epstein was informed when units became available and was looped into renovation and logistics planning.
“I never saw him but I always heard he owned the building,” a longtime resident, who also declined to share her name, told The Post of Mark.
In a March 2011 email, Anthony Barrett of Ossa notified Jeffrey Epstein that unit 12B, an estate sale, was “coming to market” and asked whether he had “any interest.” The note detailed price expectations and the apartment’s unrenovated condition. It reads like a standard investment inquiry, but within the broader email trove, it underscores how closely Jeffrey was tied to inventory inside the building.
Fifteen units — and counting
A 2012 internal email from longtime assistant Lesley Groff lists some 15 apartments tied to Epstein’s orbit, including:
- 5P (studio) for staffers “Lynn and Jojo”
- 7J (one-bedroom) for Jean-Luc Brunel
- 11P (studio) for Dana
- 4G (one-bedroom) for Sarah
- 8A (studio) for Renata, later reassigned
- 2C (one-bedroom) labeled “JE’s brother”
- 10N designated “Guest Apartment”
- 11B marked “Guest Apt”
- 4M, another “Guest Apt.”
By 2016, correspondence shows a smaller active roster but continued rotation. In one exchange, Groff wrote: “11J is Ehud and Nili … they seem to have taken the apartment over … they installed an alarm system!” This note refers to former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and his wife, Nili Priel, who stayed in the building on multiple occasions.
The address functioned like a discreet hospitality suite. In one email, a guest was told: “You will stay in 3M. Code is 7002!” In another, Epstein instructed that if flight details were sent, “my car and driver will pick you up at the airport, and take you to 301 east 66.”
In one exchange obtained by The Post, Epstein told a contact he could offer “a one bedroom at 301 east 66,” pitching it as an alternative to a hotel or an Airbnb.
The offering of free, furnished Manhattan apartments, even to wealthy visitors, was currency for Epstein to keep high-profile names in his debt.
The guest list
The email records show an unusually broad and eclectic list of other occupants and short-term guests:
- Jean-Luc Brunel, Epstein’s longtime associate and head of MC2 Models, had unit 7J.
- Ehud Barak, former Israeli prime minister, and his wife Nili stayed in 11J.
- Yoni Koren, an Israeli intelligence officer and aide to Barak, stayed in the building.
- Cecile de Jongh, former First Lady of the US Virgin Islands, visited in 2017.
- Lawrence Krauss, the theoretical physicist, was offered apartment 10F — described in an email as “one bedroom, nice brand new apartment.”
- Martin Nowak, a Harvard professor and later beneficiary of Epstein’s estate, requested stays multiple times.
- Moshe Hoffman, affiliated with Harvard and MIT Media Lab.
- Joscha Bach, an AI researcher whose children’s private-school tuition was paid by Epstein, requested apartments during visits.
- Stephen Kosslyn, former Stanford neuroscientist.
- Peter Attia, the physician and longevity influencer, appears in the email chains as a guest.
- Jack Goldberger, Epstein’s West Palm Beach defense attorney in 2008, requested weekend stays.
- Eva Andersson-Dubin, a former model who dated Epstein and later married hedge-fund billionaire Glenn Dubin, lived there and later arranged units for staff and friends.
- Larry Visoski, Epstein’s longtime pilot, regularly requested units for himself and other pilots.
- The ranch manager of Epstein’s New Mexico property inquired about staying.
- Romanian painter Ion Nicola, who worked on Epstein’s properties, stayed there.
- Assistant Sarah Kellen, who received immunity in Epstein’s 2008 plea deal, registered her business at the building.
- Groff herself operated from a 10th-floor unit, as did Epstein’s attorney and estate co-executor Darren Indyke.
- Steve Bannon, political strategist visited Epstein.
In text exchanges from 2018 obtained by The Post, Epstein texts Bannon: “I’m in New York tonite thru sat, if you want to visit under the cover of darkness or breakfast tomorrow if you like.” To which Bannon responds: “Do u have access that’s not the front door — they have 24/7 surveillance on you.”
Renovated, standardized, controlled
The renovation documents reveal systematic upgrades across units:
- 2G: new kitchen work, crown molding, window treatments, radiator covers.
- 10N: bleached floor finish, full kitchen and bathroom renovation, new lighting.
- 11B: new wood floors, crown and trim “to hide wires,” radiator covers, kitchen and bath overhaul.
- 10B: new bathroom, new cabinets, trim work.
- 8H and 8A: kitchen cabinet replacements and cosmetic updates.
- 3M: cabinetry and closet work.
The repeated reference to trim installed “to hide wires” appears across multiple units.
Even paint colors required approval. In 2018, Karyna Shulyak — Epstein’s companion — responded to a repainting quote by writing it looked “correct” and that she would “choose the color with him when he is back.”
When a former house manager complained in 2014 of burned-out lightbulbs, chipped glasses and moldy closets, Epstein replied with one word: “outrageous.” He authorized restocking silverware and household goods.
In another exchange about heating issues, he ordered: “Buy two large space heaters Today.”
The quiet address
Today, 301 E. 66th Street remains what it has long appeared to be: a conventional Upper East Side condo building with a doorman and roof deck. A furnished one-bedroom rented there on Friday for roughly $5,500 per month, according to StreetEasy. No units are currently listed for sale.
Mark Epstein still controls a substantial share of the building’s units and has been active in local development disputes.
