Panick Entertainment’s T.A.M.A. puts a disturbing twist on virtual pocket monsters, and today, The Beat can reveal the cover art for issue #2 of the delightful horror series. Written by Panick co-founders Adam Schlagman and Doug Pasko with art by Daniel HDR, colors by Peter Pantazis, and letters by Patrick Brosseau, T.A.M.A. is one of the company’s inaugural titles launching nationwide in 2025. Dustin Nguyen is the main cover artist for issues #1 and #2.
T.A.M.A. follows Kit, a grieving teen who befriends a defunct virtual pet but soon experiences a series of gruesome deaths with an unlikely common denominator. Kit isn’t sure how, but it seems like his virtual companion is not just interacting with the real world, but destroying it. Bloodily.

“I’ve always been a massive fan of Pokémon. From the animated series to the video games to the card game, I’ve tried to catch ’em all. And now I get to share that joy with my kid, who’s a Pokémon fanatic in his own right. So how could we not pay homage to the multi-generational phenomenon?” said Schlagman about the inspiration for the series.
For Pasko, inspiration comes from a different kind of pet. “The most memorable virtual pet from my childhood was the Furby I got on my birthday,” Pasko said. “I absolutely loved it, but then lost interest. I eventually took out its batteries to silence it. Not a day goes by writing issues for T.A.M.A. that I don’t think about how mad my Furby would be if it woke up one day. I have to say, I think Tama’s got a good reason to be just as mad too.”
The Beat can also share a preview from T.A.M.A. #1, seen below.

T.A.M.A. debuts digitally and at your local comic shop on August 6. Series One, which contains six issues, will follow a monthly release schedule.
