Ex-Prince Andrew was treated like a ‘common criminal’ during 11 hours in custody: ‘Extraordinary fall from grace’

Disgraced ex-Prince Andrew was treated like a “common criminal” during 11 hours in police custody — which one retired UK detective called an “extraordinary fall from grace” for the one-time favored royal.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was planning to spend his 66th birthday alone at home with his seven dogs Thursday when cops swooped in and arrested him on suspicion of misconduct in public office for allegedly passing secret documents to pedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein.

King Charles’ younger brother ended up spending 11 hours in custody — where he was treated just like any other suspect and made to give DNA swabs, fingerprints and a mugshot, according to the Sun.

“I doubt whether the police gave him tea in a bone china cup and the microwaved food in custody centres is virtually inedible,” Mick Neville, a retired detective chief inspector, told the Sun.

“It’s an extraordinary fall from grace.”

While he was in custody, investigators combed Sandringham and his former home Royal Lodge.

Police were back for more searches at Royal Lodge — where the disgraced royal lived until recently — early Friday.
