The Miami Heat have jumped out to a 6-4 record through the first ten games, but some aren’t fully sold on them long-term this year.
Former NBA player Danny Green said on the No Fouls Given podcast that he believes the Heat’s ceiling as a team this year is barely a playoff team, and that they likely won’t go very far if they do make the postseason.
“The ceiling for me, unless they make a move, that roster, they can be top 6 and avoid the play-in,” Green said. “I don’t see them getting out of the first round unless Spo really out-coach somebody like Milwaukee.”
Of course, Green has plenty of history going up against the Heat throughout his playing career. Green squared off with the Heat in the 2013 and 2014 NBA Finals as a member of the San Antonio Spurs, losing one series and winning the other. He also faced Miami in the 2020 NBA Finals as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
As if Miami didn’t need more bulletin board material, one of their storied rivals just gave them even more. The Heat entered this season with lowly expectations given the fact that Jimmy Butler was traded last season, and that the Heat finished eight games under .500, and were knocked out of the playoffs in an embarrassing sweep. Nonetheless, they will be looking to prove their doubters wrong in 2025-26.
