Ex-Milwaukee Bucks All-Star linked to the Los Angeles Lakers

The Milwaukee Bucks made a shocking decision to open up the offseason when they elected to waive star guard Damian Lillard.

Although Lillard will be spending most, if not all of next season recovering from a torn achilles, he is now available as a free agent and will be widely sought after.

One team that has been linked in connection with Lillard is the Los Angeles Lakers. BetUS’s Jonathan Adams named the Lakers as a potential fit for Lillard’s services.

“With LeBron James seemingly trying to get out of his marriage with the Lakers, the addition of Lillard could help King James renew his Hollywood vows,” Adams wrote. “James attempted to recruit Lillard to leave Portland in 2021. Lillard, James, and Luka Doncic on one team is sure to make NBA news.”

Lillard spent the two seasons with Milwaukee, averaging 24.6 points and 7.0 assists per game while being named an All-Star in both seasons. Should the Lakers acquire him, Lillard would not need to be rushed back from his injury recovery thanks to Luka Doncic and LeBron James already running the show. Additionally, Lillard could provide the Lakers with a security blanket for 2026-27 should one of James or Doncic depart from Los Angeles.
