Ex-Laker LeBron James reveals free agency decision timeline for Warriors, Heat, Cavaliers, 76ers

NBA free agency opened more than two weeks ago, and the biggest name on the market remains available. LeBron James made it public on the first day of free agency that he would be leaving the Los Angeles Lakers.

The process has been lengthy for James, as he wants to find the right situation to spend the remainder of his career. However, it appears he has now entered the decision-making phase.

“It’s decision time for LeBron James… The Leading suitors have been CLE, MIA, GSW, PHI, and MIN…. LeBron James has made it clear privately that he wants to go somewhere he can compete for a championship. Somewhere he feels he finds that happiness from a team environment and culture that he can uplift,” ESPN’s Shams Charania said.

The rest of the NBA is also eager for James to make his decision, as his free agency has created a domino effect across the league.

“Top remaining free agents are now all waiting to make their choices until after LeBron James, who has created a league-wide domino effect. Wherever LeBron signs will force interested teams into enacting their alternative scenarios. Free agency is at a halt until LeBron decides,” NBA reporter Evan Sidery wrote.

Players such as Draymond Green and James Harden have opted out of their contracts, allowing their respective teams additional flexibility as they potentially pursue James. The entire basketball world is waiting, and on Thursday, James provided an update on when a decision could be expected.

“I won't hold you guys up too much longer,” James said.

While that is not an exact timeline, it does indicate that a decision could be coming soon, potentially within the next few days or week. James is still evaluating each team's pitch and roster situation before making the biggest decision of his offseason.

The entire NBA is waiting. The fans are waiting. James understands the anticipation surrounding his choice, but the four-time NBA champion appears to have a clearer idea of where he wants to play if his decision is finalized in the near future.
