Ever since New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson arrived at Madison Square Garden in 2022, he has been nothing short of phenomenal, helping turn the franchise around and even leading them to their first Eastern Conference Finals in 25 years this past season.
And that Eastern Conference Finals, where they came up short in six games to the Indiana Pacers, is where former NBA All-Star Baron Davis noticed that Jalen Brunson alone was not going to bring an NBA championship to "The Big Apple," citing Indiana's pressure and limiting Brunson's movement.
"Nobody can stop him," Davis said on Podcast P with Paul George. "But if you watch what Indiana did, the half court became another defender. His space got limited. They need another guard to handle pressure, bring the ball up, and let him operate one-on-one late in games."
Brunson's impact on the team is no secret, with him being named the team's captain last August, and even seems like he is open to receiving help by declining a chance at a more expensive contract when he signed a $156.5 million extension last July, allowing for the team to improve their roster and potentially get Brunson the help that Baron Davis believes he needs.
Alone, however, Brunson has been incredible, receiving an All-NBA second team naming in 2024 and 2025, and was also named the 2025 NBA Clutch Player of the Year after leading the NBA in clutch field goals and points.
