Ex-Cowboys star says ‘God wanted me in Jacksonville’ after George Pickens trade

These are words you don't hear a whole lot: "God wanted me in Jacksonville."

But after the Cowboys acquired George Pickens, a former Dallas player uttered that exact sentence.

Technically, Jourdan Lewis wrote in on social media. When ESPN's Adam Schefter broke news of the trade on Wednesday, Lewis wrote on X, "Confirmation, God wanted me in Jacksonville."

Lewis had spent the first eight years of his career in Dallas.

This offseason, though, he signed with the Jaguars.

Lewis and Pickens got into it during Week 5 of the 2024 season.

Pickens grabbed Lewis by his facemask, pulling him toward the ground, before others came to step in and prevent more issues from happening.

Lewis wasn't exactly kind about Pickens after that game, saying then, "Pittsburgh needs a receiver. George Pickens is weak."

Dallas and Jacksonville are not on each other's schedule this season.

Lewis had 386 tackles, 9.5 sacks and 10 interceptions in his eight seasons with the Cowboys.

He signed on with Jacksonville for three years and $30 million this offseason, and apparently feels even more blessed for having done so now that he knows who his new teammate would've been.
