Yahoo Sports broke the fantasy football world on Thursday by announcing that they are moving forward with a new season-long college fantasy football game ahead of the 2026-27 season. The Thursday morning announcement came with specific rules and guidelines as far as rosters, drafts, and scoring go.

The launch comes in partnership with Publicis Sports, who will be the exclusive advertising and marketing team within Yahoo’s College Fantasy Football game.

"College football fans live for Saturdays, and Yahoo College Fantasy Football is about to add to the excitement," said Jarrod Schwarz, General Manager, Yahoo Sports. "We built this game to capture everything that makes the sport so special, giving fans a whole new reason to cheer for every touchdown, celebrate every big play, and get even more invested in the teams and players they already love."

Starting with the draft process, only players from Power 4 programs in the ACC, SEC, Big Ten, and Big 12 will be featured, as well as Notre Dame. No players from any Group of 5 programs are featured.

There is a new twist in scoring with the ability to draft an entire team’s offense as well. Fantasy players will earn points from team offenses based on points scored, total offensive yards, and season wins. Teams can also lose points for losses and turnovers.

Roster size also saw a shift, going from the standard 15 in NFL Fantasy Football to 18 players for the college rosters.

The 2026-27 college football season begins on August 29th with Week 0, with mock drafts and draft boards on Yahoo opening soon.
