We can confirm that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 is happening. Peter Claffey is growing out his kingly mane and Dexter Sol Ansell has already been spotted with a freshly-shaved head. HBO head Casey Bloys told the press last November that he expects a quick turn-aound for the charming adventure series, revealing that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 will be on HBO and HBO Max some time in 2027.
Showrunner Ira Parker has already confirmed that the second season will follow the events of George R.R. Martin‘s second super-sized short story about Dunk and Egg: “The Sworn Sword.”
Parker has also already spilled details about the production to The Hollywood Reporter and even teased DECIDER with the arrival of a new female character who may or may not use blood magic…

Yes! HBO is making a second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
When Will A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 Come Out on HBO and HBO Max?
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 will come out in 2027.
How Many Episodes are in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2?
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Ira Parker confirmed that there will once again be six half-hour episodes in Season 2.
“I think the scope will be same, maybe even smaller,” Parker said. “The budget has stayed the same, but everything is more expensive due to inflation.”
Parker also added that they can’t shoot exteriors in Belfast, where the show is filmed, because the story takes place during a drought.
“We have to go to a sunny location with no water, which costs money — that’s a major expense that we did not have in Season 1,” he said.

Is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 Based on a Book? What Is “The Sworn Sword” About?
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 will adapt George R.R. Martin’s second Dunk and Egg story, “The Sworn Sword.” And, yes, the story deals with a deadly drought.
“The Sworn Sword” takes place a year and a half after the Tourney at Ashford. Ser Duncan the Tall is working as a “sworn sword,” or a loyal bodyguard, for Ser Eustace Osgrey of Standfast, a “castle” in the Reach. One day, Dunk and Egg discover that the local stream that Standfast gets all of its water from has dried.
When Dunk and another sworn sword, Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield, investigate what happened, they discover that men loyal to Lady Rohanne Webber of Coldmoat have built a dam diverting the stream there. Ser Bennis cuts one of Lady Webber’s men with his sword, setting off a tense standoff between Ser Eustace and Lady Rohanne, aka the Red Widow, over the dishonor done her man and the ownership of the stream’s water.

Why is Lady Rohanne Webber Called the Red Widow?
Lady Rohanne Webber is known as the Red Widow because so many — and I mean so many — people close to her die in tragic (and sometimes comic) ways. She’s already been married and widowed four times when “The Sworn Sword” takes place. All of her children also died in infancy, prompting rumors that she was a witch.
“I love that this is a place that has seen magic, that this isn’t 14th century Britain,” Parker told DECIDER. “This is a place where dragons have existed. The builders, the people who put together the brick and mortar, have seen dragons.”
“Look, at the moment, magic is at an all-time low. It’s not that it’s totally gone from this world. It’s just at its least powerful in these realms. The fact that every now and then you meet a person who maybe has dabbled…” he said. “Obviously you get into Season 2 and it plays a little bit more of a role because we talk about the Red Widow and whether or not she actually has blood magic.”
Parker then teased that we could see more magic in a potential Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 3. “In the third book, “Mystery Knight,” obviously, there’s probably our most significant element of maybe magic-ness or possible magic-ness within the story. So it’s still there, it’s lurking, but it’s quiet and it’s not at the forefront of the story.”

Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell will most definitely be returning to Westeros. The two actors will be in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2, reprising their roles of Ser Duncan the Tall and Prince Aegon Targaryen.
HBO has not yet released additional casting for the season, but the Season 1 finale suggests that some characters might reappear in a new storyline.
In George R.R. Martin’s books, it’s implied that Dunk does have Maekar’s permission to take Egg on as his squire. In HBO’s version, Egg ran away without telling his family. That means we’ll likely see Sam Spruell return as Prince Maekar.
Prince Aerion is being sent to Lys, Ser Raymun Fossoway is about to start a new life with Lady Rowan at New Barrel, and Tanselle has high-tailed it to Dorne, but actors Finn Bennett, Shaun Thomas, and Tanzyn Crawford all told DECIDER they’d be game to return to the show.
“We’d be game for our own spinoff, just me and Shawn,” Bennett said, reaching over to hug his costar. “Yeah, of course I would.”
“Yeah, one hundred percent,” Thomas said. “Who wouldn’t want to come back to that?”
“I’ve grown to love the character of Tanselle and I would love to see her journey continue,” Crawford said. “And I think the connection, although brief, that Duncan and her build, I think it’s worth more. So yeah, I’m excited to see what happens.”
Between dream sequences, new storylines, and the unpublished, unfinished stories, there’s certainly a chance you’ll see your favorite Season 1 character again.
